German Shepherd Information

A well bred and trained German Shepherd can be the best friend a person can have. They are smart, athletic, and full of energy. Some German Shepherd characteristics are their intelligence, ability to focus, and eagerness to please. These qualities allow them to be trained for many different tasks. Among their jobs are: herding, police work, search and rescue, and seeing eye dogs. Training German Shepherds can be enjoyable for both dog and master. German Shepherds come in a few different color combinations from all black to black with reds and tans. For the German Shepherd silver and white are generally considered undesirable colors. German Shepherds are well suited to life in the country, but, can also be happy in the city if they get proper exercise. These dogs are very protective of their masters and show no fear when defending their family. It is a great pleasure to have a German Shepherd in your life.

A German Shepherd should weigh from 77-85 pounds and range in height from 22-24 inches for females and 24-26 inches for males. To keep your dog healthy, a good German Shepherd dog food would have the right combination of protein, carbohydrates, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals. The food our dogs eat is a lamb and rice mixture.

German Shepherd grooming

On a German Shepherd long hair can be found on the outer coat while shorter, thicker hair can be found in the under coat. This breed sheds a bit of hair constantly and is a seasonal heavy shedder. Daily brushing can take care of any loose hair.
